![]() ![]() The decision also lines up with Queen Camilla's choice not to have ladies in waiting. ![]() It also seems very much in line with her own personal preferences," historian Jennifer Robson, author of the novel Coronation Year, tells Town & Country. ![]() "Queen Camilla’s decision to forgo having a half dozen or so maids of honour, in contrast to previous queens consort, is in line with the tone of this coronation: simpler, more straightforward, and generally focused on less fuss and bother overall. Instead, she will just be attended to by two (aptly named) ladies in attendance: her sister Annabel Elliot and her friend Lady Lansdowne, and by her four pages of honor: her grandsons Gus Lopes, Louis Lopes, and Freddy Parker Bowles, and her grand-nephew Arthur Elliot. At today's coronation, Queen Camilla will not have maids of honor. The six women carried her velvet train, and accompanied her throughout the day. At Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953, she had maids of honor who assisted her throughout the ceremony. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Thank you for taking five hours to do something that could be accomplished in two.) AND, language - above all else - leads the way. you are total 'ROK Stars' in so many areas of your culture. except that the American 'market' might not 'like' it? Here's the other thing: ROK. ![]() I really wish the translators would, for example, intersperse Hangul throughout all Korean authors' books & teach spoken 'language' during the process of narration - what's so wrong with saying, for example, 할머니 (halmeoni) instead of 'grandma/granny'. I, for one, really, really wish Korea would not succumb to the notion of having to meet America's standards and approval to feel 'good enough'. Except for the spoken 'Americanisation' in translation in the last story and the slightest tinges of a "Texas Drawl" (really?) from the narrator (& I haven't read the printed form, so I don't know if this was spoken as it was translated) but here's the thing. I absolutely loved this treasure of short stories and the narrators are second to none in their excellent delivery. ![]() |
